Many might say today its gold with its sky rocketing price, while others may wax diamonds are a girl’s best friend earning them that top spot. Yet others may choose platinum, or other exotic metals which may be hard to come by as scarcity we would all agree drives [up] value. However if you had these things what would you do with them? As for gold and diamonds you could admire as a ring, yet what would that bring you other than a piece of metal and stone on your finger?
Here others may say it’s not a material thing at all, as it’s family and friends which hold that top space. As life is here to enjoy others and not simply material goods, yet this doesn’t answer the question.
As the answer is a simple one, its “time” itself as each one of us are born with a limited amount of it which slips through our fingers every day. As without “time”, we can’t enjoy out friends and family nor could we enjoy that diamond ring with its gold band as it adorns our finger.
From the day we are born, the actuaries go to work and assign us a number a kin to that those of us who are old enough will remember from the book Logan’s Run. Because as they work their tabular voodoo of spreadsheet magic, they determine this mystical number not by numerology, yet they base it upon our birth rights to dole us out the best case number. As while some may do better than what they are given, there are assuredly those who will unfortunately never see their number come to pass.
To me this clearly says time is the most important thing there is and yet it is still our most miss understood aspect of life. As every year hundreds of books are written which take up our “time” to tell us how to manage our time. Yet we never seem to have more time no matter the number of these tombs we read. As we are locked into a Red Queen Race from our birth to death with the Grim Reaper at our heals every step we take.
Yet for us a censioned being are alone in our knowledge we are born to die and therefore perceive time only as commodity constructed in our minds and visualized in our timepieces. Yet since these “pieces” are made by the hand of man, thus they can carry no more than the flawed perception of which man can allow in their creation. As “time” maybe isn’t a thing after all, nor is our future or past as those are only things of our memory and dreams…
